The Tottenham midfielder was criticised by some of his own supporters after the Brighton game.

Harry Winks has produced a series of excellent performances in his fledgling career so far, but the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was heavily criticised by some of his own supporters for his performance in the victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in midweek.
Winks, who made his senior England debut earlier this season, was accused of not taking enough risks with his passing against Brighton.
Such criticism, however, is rather harsh. Winks is an impressive young talent and, while the 21-year-old wasn’t at his sharpest against Brighton, he still performed effectively as he helped to protect the Tottenham defence.

Under the guidance of head coach Mauricio Pochettino Winks is becoming increasingly tactically aware and is developing the defensive qualities to aid his creative traits.
Winks should be persisted with when Tottenham face Manchester City away on Saturday, with Pochettino’s side needing to retain possession as much as they possibly can.

After making the breakthrough into the first-team in impressive fashion last season, Winks has continued to develop this campaign and will hope to provide a reminder of his quality if he features against City.
