Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict on Chelsea central defender Thiago Silva after watching him in action against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The former Manchester United and England international centre-back was hugely impressed by the way Silva played against City striker Erling Haaland in the Premier League game on Sunday.

So, what has Rio Ferdinand said about Chelsea defender Thiago Silva? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, Chelsea played out an entertaining 4-4 draw with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday.

It was a brilliant game of football.

Thiago Silva started for Chelsea.

The £110,000-a-week (Spotrac) Brazilian star scored for the Blues in the 29th minute when he headed home Conor Gallagher’s corner.

Silva played well at the back as well for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

I believe that Silva could have done better for Manuel Akanji’s goal, but he really was not at fault for Rodri’s strike.

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was hugely impressed by Silva, noting that despite being almost 40, he was not worried about facing Erling Haaland, who is one of the best and most lethal strikers in the world.

Ferdinand said about Silva on his YouTube channel: “He is actually taking the p***.

“39 years old, and just like, going against Haaland like any day.

“Crazy.”

My View: Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is world class

In my opinion, Chelsea and Brazil international central defender Thiago Silva is a world-class defender.

Silva is 39 now, but he is going as strong as ever.

A big reason why the former AC Milan star is so good even now is that he is an all-round brilliant defender.

Silva reads the game well, makes the right challenges at the right times, does not make rash decisions, and plays with a cool head all the time.

I believe that the former Paris Saint-Germain centre-back is a class player, just like John Terry was for Chelsea.
