Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could reportedly fail to sign Sofyan Amrabat ahead of Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.

The Independent journalist Miguel Delaney has written in his Reading the Game newsletter (12:31pm, August 18, 2023) that although Liverpool are considering signing Sofyan Amrabat, the Fiorentina and Morocco international midfielder has already been persuaded by Manchester United.

Liverpool want to sign a new midfielder in the summer transfer window, and one of the players the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are considering is Amrabat.

Delaney wrote: “Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is being considered, but he has already been persuaded by interest from Manchester United – which is admittedly dependent on a sale.”

Corriere della Serra reported in late July that Amrabat, who was described as “outstanding” by former Manchester United star Roy Keane on ITV (7:02pm, December 18, 2022), has already said yes to the Red Devils’ offer.

TalkSPORT reported this month that Liverpool are holding talks over a possible deal for the 26-year-old defensive midfielder, who was described as a “crazy player” by Tuttosport director Guido Vaciago in Tuttomercatoweb in December 2022.

Liverpool could beat Manchester United to Sofyan Amrabat signing

In our view, Liverpool could still beat Manchester United to the signing of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina in the summer transfer window.

Yes, the Moroccan star may want to move to Old Trafford, but the Red Devils have not agreed a deal with Fiorentina yet.

Liverpool could convince Fiorentina to sell Amrabat to them by making a bigger bid.

While United are keen on the midfielder, they have not been able to come up with the transfer fee needed.

And if Liverpool do, then it would show Amrabat that the Merseyside club want him more.

Amrabat is only 26 at the moment and has his best years ahead of him.

We believe that the midfielder would make Liverpool or Manchester United better.
