Arne Slot will officially begin life as Liverpool’s manager next month.

But he is already probably doing background work ahead of the summer transfer window opening because there are some big calls to be made.

Liverpool fans are unsure what they are going to get with their new coach and he has big shoes to fill following Jurgen Klopp’s exit.

What doesn’t aid Arne Slot is that the team didn’t end the Premier League campaign like they wanted and they fell off big time.

That has raised questions and doubts over some of the players at the club and whether they should be sold this summer.

Whatever Slot decides, Craig Burley thinks one call is staring at him right in the face and that’s the future of one Mohamed Salah.

The former Scotland international claimed that Salah is going ‘downhill’ at Anfield and Liverpool would be ’sensible’ to let him go, as he told ESPN.

If Slot were to make that call or back it up, you feel it would be a huge statement from the Dutchman.

It needs to be noted that Salah still scored 18 Premier League goals and supplied 10 assists, even if he scored three goals from his last 12 matches.

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool

“You are sensible if you are Liverpool and you take any big money that comes along, you absolutely snap it up,” said Burley.

“That’s going one way now, isn’t it, Salah?! Downhill. Unless he is some freak of Mother Nature. The numbers are going to go downhill.

“If Liverpool are sensible. You take the money. You let him go off and get his payday. The manager moves on with a new signing or different personnel.”

Mohammed Salah under Arne Slot

If those in the Saudi Pro League offer big money for Salah, then it’s understandable that Liverpool accept the offer and let him go.

But it’s not guaranteed and they might not even put the money wanted on the table.

Plus, if you are Slot, and you want to settle into life on Merseyside as smoothly as possible, then surely you want to keep Salah at all costs.

It’s claimed that he had a poor campaign, yet he still managed 18 goals. Class is permanent for a reason and the Egypt star needs to be respected here.
