The Norwich City star could fill Wolverhampton Wanderers’ squad vacancy.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are thought to want a new striker this summer. Jon Dadi Bodvarsson looks to be Reading-bound, while Ike Ugbo [All Nigeria Soccer] and Vincent Aboubakar [Goal] have both been linked with moves to Molineux in recent weeks.
But could one name which hasn’t yet been mentioned [edit – at the time of writing at least], Norwich City’s Nelson Oliveira, come into Wolves’ thinking? HITC Sport has assessed the situation.

What’s the connection?
Aside from the obvious – that Oliveira, like many of Wolves’ players and staff, is Portuguese – the 25-year-old is another on the books of Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute agency, to which Molineux stars Helder Costa, Ruben Neves and Ivan Cavaleiro also belong, along with their manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Mendes, for the few who don’t know, has been advising Wolves’ new owners since their takeover a year ago.
Is he any good?
A former Benfica player – and thus an ex teammate of Costa, Cavaleiro and new recruit Roderick Miranda – Oliveira has 16 caps for Portugal’s senior team and 20 goals in 56 appearances at Championship level, for both Norwich and Nottingham Forest. For a second tier club at least, it would hard to deny he would be a shrewd acquisition.

Would Norwich let him go?
The Canaries have offloaded several high earners already this summer, although their need to continue in this manner is perhaps lessened by the recent sales of Jonny Howson and Graham Dorrans to Middlesbrough and Rangers respectively. HITC sources suggested last week that Reading had seen an £8 million offer accepted by the Carrow Road outfit, although this has since been denied at the Norwich end. One suspects it would take more than that for them to part with Oliveira, but having spent around £16 million on Neves already, Wolves may have ruled themselves out of contention.
