Bristol City’s Joe Bryan has been linked with moves to Celtic and Everton within the past 12 months, although the latter club are unlikely to need him if Tierney arrives.
With reports of a bid from Everton in the pipeline (Daily Mail), it would be wise for Celtic to start scanning for Kieran Tierney replacements.
But who could feature on Celtic’s list of Tierney successors? Taking a slightly educated guess, is it possible the player they’re looking for is another reported Everton target (Sunday People) – and a player previously linked with a move to Parkhead himself (Daily Mirror)?
Bristol City’s Joe Bryan looks set to depart Ashton Gate this summer, having entered the final year of his contract, and also has Bournemouth, Burnley, Middlesbrough and Leeds United hot on his trail (Daily Mirror, liveblog entry 14:31), after impressing with seven goals and three assists in 48 games last season.
But with both Premier League sides well stocked for left-backs, there could be hope yet for lower division – and perhaps even Scottish – suitors.
And assuming they receive the sort of fee being mentioned in the papers for Tierney – £25 million the bid being prepared by Everton (Daily Mail) – Celtic would be well placed to compete for Bryan’s signature, especially with Champions League football on offer in Glasgow.
