Kaveh Solhekol has suggested that the transfer situation surrounding Tottenham Hotspur transfer target, Dan James, could ‘change’ at Leeds United.

Ahead of transfer deadline day, James could be headed for the Leeds exit door and the Sky reporter added that Antonio Conte likes the player ‘a lot’.

Leeds could be adding to their squad on deadline day, with PSV’s Coady Gakpo a possible capture for Jesse Marsch’s side.

If that happens, then Spurs might be able to land the talents of James, who moved to Elland Road last summer from Manchester United.

James isn’t a starter at Leeds, and the 24-year-old will be in the same situation at Hotspur Way, but he would be playing Champions League football.

Either way, the Wales international needs regular minutes ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, as Solhekol shared his thoughts on the player’s situation, as he told Sky Sports News.

“Tottenham have had a long-standing interest in Dan James,” said Solhekol. “He is a player Antonio Conte likes a lot.

“This interest has been throughout the summer. But as far as Leeds are concerned, they don’t want to sell the player.

“Although, I do think the situation may change depending on who they bring in. For instance, we know that they are interested in Cody Gakpo and Hwang Hee-chan of Wolves as well.

“If either of those were to come in, then the situation regarding Dan James may change. Then the important thing is what would Dan James want to do? Added with Rodrigo’s injury for Leeds.

“It’s a complicated issue, but we know for a fact that Spurs like this player a lot. And they have liked him a lot for a very long time.”

JAMES SHOULD STAY AT LEEDS

Yes, he has the chance to work under Conte, and play alongside some of the best players in the world in Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Added with playing Champions League and competing near the top of the table with Spurs.

But James needs to be selfish about his career here and his career only, especially during the short-term.

The 2022 World Cup is around the corner, and if James wants to be cooking in Qatar for Wales, then he needs to be playing on a regular basis beforehand and there is more likely he gets that action in Yorkshire.
