‘Considering’: Journalist says Newcastle want striker who has a good relationship with Guimaraes

Speaking on The Done Deal Show, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has been discussing Richarlison’s future and interest from Newcastle United.

Richarlison has been linked with a whole host of top clubs this summer, including, but not limited to, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.

However, Newcastle’s new-found status as the richest club on the planet has also put the Magpies in the race for the striker’s signature, and according to Jacobs, the Tyneside club are considering a move for the Everton man.

Jacobs spoke about Newcastle’s interest in the Brazilian and the fact he has a good relationship with Bruno Guimaraes.

“He’s a player that is available in the market and there are a few clubs that are currently looking at him. Newcastle United are considering a swoop as well if they don’t get Ekitike,” Jacobs said.

“What will be interesting with Richarlison is where his level of ambition lies. If he joins Newcastle he’ll be well compensated and he’ll be joining a new project from the ground up and he will be a focal point. Callum Wilson is 30 and Chris Wood clearly isn’t the answer if Newcastle want to be challenging for Champions League football and beyond.”

“Let’s not forget there are some Brazilians at Newcastle that he knows and if friendly with, particularly Bruno but Joelinton as well, he has a good relationship with the former.”

Building a team

Newcastle may be the richest football club on the planet, but they’re not just going out and buying players who don’t blend well together.

Indeed, the Magpies are slowly but surely building a team, and the spine of their squad may soon be a Brazilian cohort.

Richarlison, Joelinton and Guimaraes are three very talented players who get on well together, and with Lucas Paqueta potentially being added to that mix, Newcastle’s new era could be defined by a South American revolution.
