Leeds defender Shaughnessy has been plagued by an ankle injury picked up in January.

Leeds United have shown Conor Shaughnessy returning to training at Elland Road on the club’s official Twitter account as the club prepare for their final pre-season friendly of the season against Las Palmas.
Shaughnessy, 22, has been sidelined since January of this year, as he was replaced by Stuart Dallas in the sixth minute of Leeds’ 0-0 draw against Hull City.
His time on the sidelines has been so long, that he failed to feature for Paul Heckingbottom, who has since been replaced by former Argentina manager Marcelo Bielsa.
Leeds posted a video of the squad stepping onto the Elland Road pitch for training, as they add the final touches to their preparation for Sunday’s clash against the La Liga outfit. Shaughnessy walks out alongside Luke Ayling.
His return from injury provides Bielsa with much-needed cover at centre-back, as the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is yet to feature at all throughout pre-season.
Leeds have been using Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi at centre-back during pre-season, with Matty Pennington returning to Everton following his loan and Pontus Jansson still recuperating after the World Cup with Sweden.
Shaughnessy made nine Championship appearances for Leeds and is likely to add to that, after making the cut for the squad numbers – though seven first-team players failed to do so including Hadi Sacko and Eunan O’Kane.
Leeds begin their Championship campaign in just over a week, playing host to relegated Stoke City on August 5.
