Conor McGregor is once again setting his sights high for 2026.
The Irishman has not fought since July 2021, when he suffered his second defeat of the year. This came after being knocked out by Dustin Poirier and then breaking his leg in their UFC 264 trilogy fight.
Now more than four years later, ‘The Notorious’ still has not returned to action. His failed comeback attempt in 2024 left many wondering if his time in MMA is over for good.
But McGregor has dismissed those claims multiple times, insisting he plans to return at the UFC event scheduled for the White House on June 14. His latest social media post suggests he’s still sticking to that timeline.
Conor McGregor tells Dana White to prepare for a repeat of his last UFC win

Although he has not fought since 2021, McGregor’s last win came back in January 2020.
After his submission defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov, the Dubliner took a 15-month break before returning at UFC 246, where he stopped Donald Cerrone inside 40 seconds.
Dana White was seen backstage after the fight, clearly impressed by what he had just witnessed from the Irishman.
“F—— wow, seriously,” the businessman said while embracing McGregor. “F—— wow.
“Is anybody else as blown away as I am by that s—? The only guy in the whole place who didn’t see that coming?
“I thought it was gonna be a war. He’s (Cerrone’s) a slow starter but Jesus Christ. That was madness.”
McGregor, who hopes to return this year, posted that clip on X and told White to be ready for more of the same on June 14.
He wrote: “Get ready to say it again!”
Jon Anik names two fighters he would rather see Conor McGregor face over Michael Chandler
Ever since their coaching stint opposite one another on The Ultimate Fighter, Michael Chandler has eagerly anticipated a fight with ‘The Notorious’.
But after one fight was scrapped and nearly two years have gone by, Jon Anik appears to be leaning toward giving someone else the shot instead of the former Bellator champion.
Speaking on the Jaxxon Podcast, the UFC lead commentator threw out a couple of alternative names for McGregor’s return. One of them was lightweight contender Mauricio Ruffy, who was not expected to be part of that conversation.
“I would love to see Conor McGregor back in the Octagon and Michael Chandler always dons the stars and stripes of the United States of America, so I think he deserves a place on the White House card,” Anik began by saying.
“But that match-up to me, it’s not a bout of consequence for me in the lightweight division.
“I just would rather see Conor fight Nate Diaz or Mauricio Ruffy or I don’t know, somebody else.”
