Lucas Torreira is reportedly flying to Italy to complete a loan move from Arsenal to Serie A side AFC Fiorentina.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Torreira will have his medical with Fiorentina later today.

The Sky Sports Italia posted to Twitter earlier in the week that the deal had been ‘completed’, and the Arsenal could stand to make as much as £14m from the transfer.

The midfielder will initially join on loan for a fee of €1.5m (£1.2m). However, Fiorentina do have an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of next season for €15m (£12.8m) according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Uruguayan midfielder had only just returned from London after spending the season and summer in Spain with Atletico Madrid. However, as reported by Football London, Mikel Arteta has no plans for Torreira at the club.

Arsenal are keen to offload players in the remaining days of the window. As well as Torreira, Willian could also be out the exit door to Corinthians as reported by the Telegraph. Hector Bellerin and Sead Kolasinac could also leave.

The Gunners want to make at least one more signing this summer in the form of a right-back. However, multiple reports indicate that his can only happen if Arsenal manage to sell some players on.

And Torreira appears to be the next name to leave Arsenal. The midfielder has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League since arriving in 2018.

Whilst there were some bright performances, a return to Italy is ideal for the talented 25-year-old, who needs a fresh start.
