Spurs claimed a massive 2-1 win over Aston Villa over the weekend, and former Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart was in attendance for the fixture.
The ex-Dutch international posted to his official Twitter account that he was at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend. Van der Vaart spent just seasons with the north London side, but the midfielder made one hell of an impression.
The former Real Madrid star bagged 28 goals across two years for Spurs. Before the now 38-year-old returned to Bundesliga side Hamburg.
Despite spending just two seasons in the Premier League, Van der Vaart remains a fan favourite in the white half of north London. The midfielder has often been seen at games since his departure in 2012.
Indeed, the presence of Van der Vaart seemingly did Spurs some good as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side bagged a huge win over Villa. The result put Tottenham eighth in the Premier League table.
After three humiliating defeats, a victory was much-needed for Spurs, and three points against a good Villa side was no doubt the perfect response. And the win was made that much sweeter with Van der Vaart in attendance.
