If the Telegraph are to trusted, Arsenal are interested in a move for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer.
What’s the story?
Well, the 10-cap England international has understandably caught Arsenal’s eye after he enjoyed the best season of his career.
Calvert-Lewin netted 21 goals in 39 games for Everton during the 2020/21 campaign, earning him a place in Gareth Southgate’s EURO 2020 squad.
As a result, Arsenal are now keen to sign him, although he could cost the Gunners £50 million.
Nevertheless, Calvert-Lewin looked like a £50 million striker last season, so Arsenal should be prepared to spend big if they really want him.
Gary Lineker rates Dominic Calvert-Lewin highly
One man who seems to rate Calvert-Lewin highly is Gary Lineker.
The BBC Match of the Day host once called the 24-year-old a ‘combative’ presence up top, who holds the ball up well.
Lineker said: “I like the way he’s improving, he’s combative, he holds it up well and can get in the box.”
Others have lauded Everton’s No.9 as well.

As covered by us yesterday, Jamie Carragher thinks Calvert-Lewin can now be considered the Premier League’s third-best striker.
Davide Ancelotti – son of Carlo – even likened the former Sheffield United man to Didier Drogba and Cristiano Ronaldo.
In our view, Calvert-Lewin is exactly what Mikel Arteta needs.
Arsenal have lacked a hungry, aggressive goalscorer for a while now.
Yes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been excellent for the Gunners, but he doesn’t seem to score the type of goals Calvert-Lewin gets.

Everton’s talisman has made a habit of netting towering headers, while his upper body strength helps get him in some good areas.
Compared to the stick-thin forward we saw a few seasons ago, Calvert-Lewin has really beefed up over the last 12 months.
Now, he could serve as the perfect foil to the more streamlined Aubameyang.
In our view, this would be an excellent signing.
