Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United should have made moves for Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe in the January transfer window, suggests Stan Collymore.
Jermain Defoe may be playing for a team struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment, but there can be no denial that he is a top goalscorer.
The 34-year-old striker has scored 14 goals and created 12 chances in 24 Premier League appearances of Sunderland so far this season.

During the 2015-16 campaign, the former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United man scored 15 goals and created 21 chances in 33 league games for the Black Cats.
Sunderland are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, and Defoe is their main hope of survival.

Former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore seems to be a fan of Defoe and has listed four clubs who should have made moves for him in the January transfer window – Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Richard Keys makes a bold claim about Rafael Benitez
“Jermain Defoe could easily do a job in a top six team,” Collymore wrote on Boylesports.com. “He may yet help Sunderland escape relegation but boy would he have been a deal clincher for a Liverpool or United chasing top four. Or for an Arsenal trying to keep tabs on Chelsea, or a little support for Harry Kane? Yes sir!”

Defoe is a proven Premier League goalscorer, and he would have added to the quality at the clubs mentioned by Collymore, although United do have enough firepower upfront and Liverpool’s playing style may not have suited the Sunderland star.
