Chuba Akpom and Charlie Patino have been left impressed by Eddie Nketiah after he netted a brace during Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Oxford United in the third-round of the FA Cup on Monday evening.

After a weekend of giant killings, no more so than League Two Stevenage knocking out Premier League Aston Villa, those topping English football made sure they avoided such an upset.

In truth, it wasn’t all plain sailing for Mikel Arteta’s side because they didn’t open the scoring until after the hour mark when Mohamed Elneny headed Arsenal in front.

That’s when the north London outfit turned it on and Nketiah then proceeded to net a brace to kill off the game.

When Nketiah reacted on Instagram to yesterday’s win, in the comments section, Arsenal youngster Patino, who is on-loan at Blackpool, simply wrote ‘cold’, whilst former Hale-End star Chuba Akpom added ‘Nketiah in the room’ added with a fire emoji.

Arsenal number one, Aaron Ramsdale added: ‘When it rings’ added with a heart emoji and Gabriel reacted with just a fire emoji.

NKETIAH HITTING THE RIGHT NOTES

That’s four goals for the £100k-a-week Arsenal star (Spotrac) since the return of domestic football from the World Cup break, but most importantly, since Gabriel Jesus’ injury.

Arteta needed his back-up star to step up, and so far, he is doing that, even though he will need to dip into the January transfer market to bulk up his squad, especially in the final third.

That will probably come in the form of Ukraine star Mykhailo Mudryk, who has thrown hints, left, right and centre that he wants to join the Arsenal project, it’s just a case of trying to agree on a fee with Shakhtar Donetsk.
