Massimiliano Allegri has criticised reported Arsenal target and Juventus star Weston McKennie despite a 3-2 win.
Speaking to the press after Juventus’ first win of the 2021/22 league season via NBC Sports, the Old lady coach signalled out McKennie as a player who should have performed better.
Juventus have started the season poorly under Allegri. The Turin giants currently sit 13th in the standing. Moreover, they are already eight points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan and AC Milan.
And McKennie appears to be a player who could face the chop in January. CalcioMercatoWeb report via Tutto Juve that Allegri is open to sending the American international to Arsenal as leverage to sign Granit Xhaka.
And Allegri’s comments from yesterday’s win seem to suggest that McKennie could be closer to the exit door than first thought. The Juventus manager said: “There are players who have important qualities and who need to improve.
“[Weston] McKennie for example, should have scored at least four goals and those chances make the difference.”

Indeed, with reports suggesting that Juventus are eager to move McKennie on and Allegri now publicly criticising the American, these actions could play into the hands of Arsenal as the weeks slowly tick over into January.
Central midfield could be a position that needs investing with Mohamed Elneny’s contract expiring in 2022. Moreover, Xhaka could well be keen to depart north London with Juventus reportedly eager on the Swiss captain.
