This may have been another busy summer of incomings and outgoings at Nottingham Forest.
But, in contrast to the windows of 2022 and 2023, there appears to have been a more coherent, controlled transfer strategy in place this time.
Last year, for instance, many of Nottingham Forest’s signings arrived in the dying stages of the window. Ibrahim Sangare, Murillo and Callum Hudson-Odoi were all snapped up mere hours before the deadline.
The summer of 2024, however, has seen Forest go about their business with more pace and decisiveness than before.
With two weeks still to go before Nuno Espirito Santo’s side kick off the campaign against AFC Bournemouth at the City Ground, their squad looks arguably more balanced and settled than at any other point since their return to the Premier League.
Deals for goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, midfielder Elliot Anderson and colossal centre-half Nikola Milenkovic were all secured before the start of August.
Jota Silva, the Portugal international who scored 15 goals last term for Vitoria de Guimaraes, also put pen to paper on Thursday. While Nottingham Forest have frequently been accused of overpaying, the ‘special’ Jota arrives for a bargain fee of just £6 million.

Nottingham Forest now want Talleres star Ramon Sosa
Ramon Sosa is the next in line.
HITC understands that Nottingham Forest are in talks with Argentine outfit Tallares about a deal that would see the Paraguay international join fellow wideman Jota in the East Midlands.
Nothing has been agreed at this stage.
Tallares are reportedly holding out for a fee that could rise to £16 million, per La Voz, while president Andres Fassi insists that he is not yet ready to board a flight to England and discuss the deal with Forest in person.
“I will travel if what we agreed (comes to fruition). For now, it is not like that,” Fassi says, insisting that the deal is up in the air after Forest ‘changed’ their stance in the latest round of discussions.
There appears to be a confidence on both sides, however, that a deal will be done at some point in the near future.
Walter Ribonetto, Talleres’ head coach, is clearly not expecting to have Sosa at his disposal for much longer, feeling that the winger’s ‘departure’ is all-but guaranteed.
“We would look (to sign) three or more players. (We need) an attacking midfielder because we have many casualties. The departure of Ramon Sosa, the departure of Ruben Botta, the departure of Nahuel Bustos, Gustavo Bou, David Romero,” Ribonetto tells La Voz.
“We had important casualties and we need to complete the squad to have at least two players per position.”
Tallares boss expects Sosa to leave
The right-footed Sosa – who plays on the opposite flank to Jota Silva – has scored seven goals and set up six assists in 21 games for Tallares in the 2024 campaign.
His agent confirmed interest from Chelsea and Everton in recent times, though Forest now appear to be in pole position.
“He is getting in good physical shape after the vacation he had and the Copa America,” adds Ribonetto. “But Sosa, these days, has an end here.
“I am extremely grateful because he gave everything. He is a young player who has a huge future and we will surely miss him. As will his entire group of team-mates.
“But it is also the best for him and for the club since, obviously, he will be an important sale.”
