A number of names have been linked with becoming Tottenham manager of late, but Serhiy Rebrov wouldn’t have been top of many fans’ lists.
With Jose Mourinho gone, some are expecting a big appointment; an Antonio Conte, a Mauricio Pochettino… a manager with top pedigree.
Rebrov doesn’t quite fit that same bill.
The Ukrainian had a pretty unsuccessful spell with Tottenham as a player, scoring just 15 goals in 75 games for the club.
As a manager, Rebrov has won three straight titles at Ferencvaros in Hungary as well as two league titles with former club Dynamo Kiev.
Named Coach of the Year in Hungary last month, Rebrov is faring brilliantly as a manager, and that has resulted in Spurs rumours.
Tuttomercatoweb claim that Rebrov has now been offered to Spurs as a potential replacement for Mourinho, though it’s unclear whether Tottenham are actually keen.
Now, Ukrainian coach Vyacheslav Hroznyi has told Football Transfers in Ukraine that Rebrov to Tottenham was his idea.

Hroznyi claims he has been pushing for Rebrov to be on Tottenham’s list for a month now, and believes any criticism about him not having having England experience doesn’t hold up given the success of Nuno Espirito Santo in the Premier League.
“I said a month ago that the Rebrov should be included in the list of candidates for the Spurs position. This was my idea,” said Hroznyi.
“Today Serhiy is an ideal candidate for the position of Tottenham’s head coach. Someone will say that he hasn’t coached an English team. So what? Wolves have been coached by the Portuguese coach Espirito Santo, who hadn’t worked in England either,” he added.
