Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the chance to make former striker Serhiy Rebrov their new manager, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.

And there was us thinking Mauricio Pochettino would be the only man linked with a shock return to North London today.

While the Guardian reports that Pochettino would happily turn his back on a club with about as much stability as a deckchair on a bouncy castle, Paris Saint-Germain have their own ideas.

The Argentine is under contract until 2022 and PSG would not exactly relish the prospect of searching for another new manager, just five months after putting Thomas Tuchel out of his misery.

As a result, there exists a need for Tottenham to scour the market for alternatives.

According to TMW, 46-year-old Rebrov has emerged as an option right out of left-field.

Mauricio Pochettino… or Serhiy Rebrov?

Rest assured though, Rebrov the Tottenham manager could be far better than Rebrov the Tottenham striker.

The former Ukraine international mustered just ten Premier League goals during a torturous spell at Spurs but, since swapping his studs for a whistle and a clipboard, Rebrov’s track record is indisputable.

He lifted five trophies between 2015 and 2018 at Dinamo Kiev before guiding Hungarian giants Ferencvaros to three successive league titles. Did we mention Rebrov also took Ferencvaros back into the Champions League after 25 years away?

A win rate of 64 per cent speaks volumes too – a far greater success rate than Pochettino’s during those heady days at Spurs (54 per cent).

For now, there is no suggestion that Rebrov is a genuine candidate for the Tottenham job. But maybe, with that track record, he should be.
