Tottenham Hotspur are optimistic that they will finally secure a deal for Radu Dragusin with the defender’s former Juventus coach convinced that the defender can thrive in the Premier League.
HITC Football understands that, with talks ongoing with Genoa, Tottenham Hotspur remain confident that they will succeed in fighting off competition from the likes of Napoli, AC Milan and Roma for one of the most coveted young centre-halves on the market.
Spurs are at the front of the queue, even if there is still a gap between the fee they would prefer to pay (around £25 million) and the one Genoa want. HITC has been informed that Il Grifone are hoping for £30 million for the 6ft 3ins Romania international.

Tottenham Hotspur closing in on Radu Dragusin
Fabio Pecchia, speaking to Sport Italia, is yet to be convinced that Radu Dragusin is a £30 million player. He has far fewer doubts, however, about whether or not a broad-shouldered 21-year-old who played under him at Juventus can adapt to life in the hustle and considerable bustle of English football.
“Is Dragusin worth £30 million? The market determines the value,” Pecchia begins. “I trained him a few years ago. And I can say that he is a strong, smart, and intelligent boy. In the end, however, the market produces numbers.
“Is he a Premier League player? For me, yes. He can become a top player. He has the (body) structure and physicality.”
Dragusin in, Eric Dier out?
Dragusin, who scored in a 1-1 draw with Serie A leaders Inter Milan with a soaring header recently, could bring an end to Eric Dier’s Tottenham career. Spurs are open to offers for the long-serving England international, HITC understands. Full-backs Sergio Reguilon and Djed Spence also expected to depart before the month is out.
Dragusin, who’s agent also confirmed interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United, will add quality and depth to a Tottenham backline beset by injuries. A right-footer by trade, he will likely provide competition for the card-happy, oft-suspended Cristian Romero.
