CM Punk has been away from WWE for some time despite main eventing Night 2 of WrestleMania.

Punk and Roman stole the show at Mania 42, putting on what was arguably the match of the night.

However, he has been absent from WWE since April and speculation as to why that is the case has been rife.

There has been a suggestion that creative have no plans for the former World Heavyweight Champion, but WrestleVotes are now claiming he has simply been given some well-earned time off.

CM Punk given a well-deserved rest

Speaking via Fightful’s Patreon, as quoted by Ringside News, WrestleVotes explained: “It’s a well-deserved rest for a guy who’s been going, outside of injury, for three straight years.

“Just main evented WrestleMania, get a little time off. He’ll be back in no time, right back at the top of the card. It is not true they have no plans for CM Punk.”

WWE’s next Premium Live Event takes place at the end of this month, but at present, Punk is not being advertised for Night of Champions.

Following said event, which will include the King and Queen of the Ring finals plus Cody Rhodes and more, SummerSlam will take place in the first week of August.

Given that it is one of WWE’s flagship PLEs, it would make sense for Punk to return ahead of time and be featured on the show.

Exactly what he will do remains to be seen, but making a potential match with Rhodes for the title would make some sense.

However, that may depend on who wins King of the Ring and which title they decide to go after at August’s PLE.

But regardless, fans will probably be keen to have CM Punk back on WWE TV as soon as possible, given the lack of top, top stars we are currently seeing on the weekly show.
