AJ Styles has picked out a current WWE star who he believes could be a future world champion.

The Phenomenal One retired earlier this year at the Royal Rumble, and he’s since moved into a backstage role where his job entails finding future talents.

Styles believes there’s a current wrestler in the company who has what it takes to go to the next level.

Of course, we can all pick out the likes of Oba Femi and Bron Breaker as potential future champions, but according to Styles, Chad Gable is another who could hit those heights.

AJ Styles picks Chad Gable out as a future World Champion

Speaking on the Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles spoke about Gable.

Gable was recently unmasked as El Grande Americano, and after a stint in AAA, he has returned to WWE hotter than ever.

Styles believes WWE should capitalize on this popularity, and, eventually, make Gable a World Champion.

“I think he’s a bigger superstar than he’s ever been at this very moment. If we don’t capitalize, and I say we because I’m part of WWE, we don’t capitalize on this, we’re dumb. We’re dummies,” Styles said.

“He can be heavyweight champion. He’s a legit pro wrestler that there’s no way somebody in the crowd is going, ‘I think I can take Chad Cable.’ Dude, he’s legit, he will drop you on your head and there’s nothing you can do about it. He will scoop you up and drop you. This guy is legit. Everything about him, his look, ability, everything about him is scary if you know anything about collegiate wrestling or pro wrestling. This guy can take care of business. Yeah no, he’s legit.”

Chad Gable’s storyline writes itself

Chad Gable is certainly talented enough to be a World Champion one day, and his route to the title pretty much writes itself too.

In recent years, Gable has had two great rivals, Gunther and the second-coming of El Grande Americano – played by Ludwig Kaiser.

Of course, Kaiser and Gunther are linked due to their past work as members of Imperium, and that could all tie itself together in a very nice way if Gable eventually faces Gunther for the World Championship with El Grande Americano’s mask also on the line.

A number of dominoes have to fall for that feud to work out, but, make no mistake about it, this could be a WrestleMania level storyline.
