Manchester United have reportedly joined the race for PSG attacker Mauro Icardi, who is also wanted by Tottenham this January.
According to L’Equipe, the PSG star is likely to leave the French giants this month. As per the report, United and Spurs are both keen on Icardi, yet Juventus remain the favourites to sign the Argentine hitman.
United, who beat Spurs 3-0 earlier in the season, are eager to add to their attacking ranks with the future of Anthony Martial in the balance, hence the interest in Icardi.
As for Tottenham, they are also keen to improve on their forward options, with Harry Kane Antonio Conte’s only natural striker as Spurs have, in general, struggled for goals this season.
A £45m signing for PSG as per the Guardian, Icardi has failed to impress under Mauricio Pochettino, with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi favoured over Icardi.
With first-team minutes rare, the former Inter Milan star looks guaranteed to leave Paris this month. However, where the South American ends up appears to be the million-dollar question.
Tottenham have strongest case to sign Icardi over United and Juventus

With Kane Spurs’ only natural number nine, a second option will be vital for Tottenham if they are to clinch UEFA Champions League qualification. And Icardi could be perfect for the club, who is rated by Conte.
Labelled as ‘super reliable’ by former PSG manager Thomas Tuchel, the attacker will likely pair Kane in the two-man attack. And with United and Juventus already stacked in the striker position, Icardi would be wise to choose Spurs and Conte over the other two European clubs.
