Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Sevilla will not sell Diego Carlos to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that sources at Sevilla have told him that he is staying despite interest from Tottenham.
Earlier this month, The Sun reported that Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte wants to bring the Brazilian defender to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the January transfer window.
The report claimed that the Tottenham chiefs are ready to back Conte in his pursuit of the 28-year-old central defender.
Diego Carlos blow for Tottenham Hotspur
In our view, not being able to sign Carlos from Sevilla in the January transfer window would be a blow for Tottenham.
We know that Tottenham are looking for a new centre-back.

And, in our view, Carlos would have been a good signing for Spurs.
Carlos is a very good defender who is at the top of his game and has been playing well for a number of years.
The Brazilian would have been able to make an immediate impact at Tottenham, but, based on Romano’s comments, it seems that Spurs will not be able to sign him in January.
