Torino are reportedly opening contract talks to renew Wilfried Singo’s contract amid rumours that Tottenham are interested in signing the 21-year-old right-back.

According to Tuttosport via Sport Witness, the Serie A side are ready to begin negotiations with Singo to extend the defender’s contract, which is currently set to expire in 2024 as Tottenham are now looking at signing the Ivory Coast international.

As per the report, Antonio Conte is eager to bring a right-back to north London in January, with Singo once again on the Italian’s radar as Tottenham look to add more quality down their flank away from Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal.

Whilst Tottenham already signed Destiny Udogie in the summer, the youngster is not set to return to Spurs until next year at the end of his Udinese loan spell. Meaning that Conte is the in the market for a right-back now, which could mean a move for Singo.

Lauded as ‘perfect’ by Tottenham supporters when the Ivorian was first linked with the Premier League side last year, Singo has been regular for Torino this season with the defender making 11 appearances and registering just one assist.

Indeed, at 21, Singo is one of the highest-rated fullbacks in Italy, with Sport even reporting that FC Barcelona are also tracking the African talent ahead of the January window. And for Tottenham, news that Torino are looking to extend the defender’s contract is the last thing the north London side wanted to hear.

With Barcelona already in the race for Singo and Torino now in talks to renew the defender’s contract, Tottenham could be in for one long road ahead in their quest to sign the Ivorian, which seemingly could last until the end of the window.

After all, Singo himself is yet to decide what he wants ahead of the market opening for business in a few weeks time, and for Tottenham, Barcelona’s interest could be the deciding factor on if Conte is able to land his man in January.
