ACF Fiorentina will reportedly launch an offer to sign Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet after Arsenal pulled the plug on a deal for Lucas Torreira to join the Italian side on a permanent transfer.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A club are preparing to make a bid to sign the Belgian international, with Leicester open to selling Praet this summer after the midfielder spent the entirety of last season out on loan with Torino, where the 28-yer-old impressed.
With Praet now back at Leicester and the Foxes willing to offload the former Sampdoria star for good, Fiorentina are looking to sign the Premier League maestro after La Viola missed out on the chance to land Torreira on a permanent deal from Arsenal.
As per reports, the Gunners had a £13m deal in place for Torreira to join Fiorentina at the end of last season following the conclusion of his loan spell. However, the Tuscan club reportedly tried to lower the asking price to a measly £6m, a proposition so bad that Arsenal ended talks entirely, with the Uruguayan now back in north London.
With Torreira no longer set to join Fiorentina, the Serie A side are now looking at alternative options, which is where Praet comes into the picture. Despite being labelled as an ‘outstanding talent’ by Brendan Rodgers, it looks like the midfielder will leave the King Power Stadium for good this summer.
Indeed, Praet starred in Serie A last season for Torino and during his three-year stint with Sampdoria, and returning to Italy to sign for Fiorentina could be an outstanding move for the Belgian international, especially ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Praet is perfect for Fiorentina after missing out on Torreira signing

Praet was a shining light for Torino last season, and with Arsenal stopping Torreira from signing for Fiorentina this summer, the Leicester man is an ideal alternative for Vincenzo Italiano’s side, who will be back in Europe next season.
With a solid track record in Italy and Leicester open to a cheap sale, Praet is perfect for what Fiorentina are looking for this summer, and the midfielder could be open to returning to Italy on a permanent deal after three mixed years at Leicester.
