Lyon reportedly made a series of attempts to sign Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, who came through the French club before moving to the Gunners in 2017.

According to L’Equipe, the Ligue 1 side were eager to sign their former attacker, with Lyon launching ‘multiple attempts’ to sign Lacazette during the January transfer window. However, each move was shot down by the Gunners.

The 30-year-old attacker has been a key player for Arsenal this season and has taken the armband since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stripped of the captaincy in early December.

However, the forward is expected to leave Arsenal in the summer. Lacazette’s contract expires at the end of the season, and as per L’Equipe, a move in the off-season to Lyon now in the works.

With Arsenal failing to sign a striker and Aubameyang close to leaving the Gunners for a free transfer to FC Barcelona as per the Athletic, supporters will be expecting a lot from Lacazette in the coming months.

The Frenchman and Eddie Nketiah, who is also likely to leave in the summer, are the clubs only natural strikers. And for Lacazette, he must remain laser-focused on playing his best football yet for the Gunners despite interest already in the summer from Lyon.

Lacazette must give 100% to Arsenal with Lyon eyeing summer move

The upcoming months will be some of the most important Arsenal will experience in some time. The Gunners have a legit shot at qualifying for the top-four, yet if they are to do so, Lacazette needs to up his goalscoring form whilst remaining focussed on the club with Lyon eyeing the attacker.

Indeed, Lacazette could leave north London a hero if the attacker fires the Gunners to top-four glory. And if the striker steps up, supporters will give the striker the send-off he deserves after five years with the club.
