Tottenham Hotspur may be in the market for more attacking additions this summer but Antonio Nusa is now a name to forget about.

Tottenham Hotspur fans had one clear wish this summer – sign a new striker.

Harry Kane left the club last summer and Tottenham hadn’t brought in a new centre forward to replace him.

Tottenham had focused on signing teenagers such as Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Yang Min-hyuk in an effort to build for the future.

Even Timo Werner – once a striker at Chelsea – returned on loan but is expected to play out wide.

Tottenham had to find a real goalscorer and have done just that, paying up to sign Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

Antonio Nusa latest

Solanke provides a proven source of Premier League goals but Tottenham may still target more attacking additions.

Fans may love to see another winger arrive, especially with Werner only on loan.

One exciting wide man Tottenham considered signing in January is Norwegian talent Antonio Nusa.

Spurs moved for Nusa with a deal which would have seen him return to Club Brugge for the second half of last season.

That deal seemed to be moving well before Brentford hijacked the move – only for the deal to collapse due to medical issues.

Nusa is still very highly rated though and the 19-year-old has now secured his next move.

The 19-year-old wide man will not be heading to England though, instead signing for RB Leipzig over in Germany.

RB Leipzig react to Nusa deal

RB Leipzig recently lost Dani Olmo to Barcelona and have now invested in Nusa with key men celebrating his arrival on the club’s official website.

“Antonio fits perfectly with RB Leipzig’s DNA. He is young, has potential for development, is very ambitious and willing to learn. Also, he has already played around a hundred professional matches and has left his mark on both FC Brugge and the Norwegian National Team. This makes him one of the best players of his generation in Europe, without a doubt. Antonio really wanted to join us and the Bundesliga this summer in order to take the next steps together. Recent years provide enough examples showing that RB Leipzig is exactly the right club for this. Antonio’s transfer was well prepared, so we were able to finalise it quickly in the course of the past few days,” said RB Leipzig’s Sport Managing Director Marcel Schafer.

“We had Antonio on our radar for several years and are very happy that we were able to make the transfer happen now,” said RB Leipzig Sporting Director Rouven Schroder. “He is a dynamic, fast and technically well-trained player who can play both as a number ten and on either wing. Antonio also has good gameplay vision and a strong finish, he’s difficult to defend against in direct duels, plays well with both feet and is extremely versatile. He fits perfectly into our existing attack and with the football we want to play. He is also very clear and well developed for his young age. We are looking forward to Antonio and the start of the new season together very much!” he added.

RB Leipzig clearly believe that they have landed a star of the future in Nusa and only time will tell whether Tottenham have missed out on a real sensation.

Spurs will look at other targets though with Nusa no longer a possibility this summer, months after Tottenham’s deal seemed to collapse.
