Arsenal and Newcastle have now seemingly received a boost in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo.
What’s the story?
Well, it was The Athletic who revealed that Newcastle would like to sign the Ecuador international.
Elsewhere, a story from 90min stated that Arsenal are monitoring Caicedo as they target a new midfield maestro, with Declan Rice also on their shortlist.
Now, Brighton have interestingly agreed a deal to sign Yasin Ayari – who plays in the same position as Caicedo.
It was Daniel Kristoffersson of Swedish news outlet Aftonbladet who revealed the news, stating that the 19-year-old will now fly to England to undergo a medical with Brighton after a €6m (£5m) deal was agreed with AIK.
It comes after Roberto De Zerbi – Manager of Brighton – failed to confirm that Caicedo would be staying at the Amex Stadium, as Chelsea saw a £55m bid for the South American rejected, according to The Athletic.

As quoted by The Athletic, the Italian said: “The best solution is he can finish the season with us and in the summer it is better to change teams. If Caicedo continues to play like the last games it is possible he can leave.”
Arsenal & Newcastle face competition
Even if Brighton are now willing to sell Caicedo with Ayari on his way to England, Mikel Arteta and Eddie Howe both face a real challenge to sign the 21-year-old with Chelsea involved in proceedings.
As Arsenal have already found out with their failed pursuit of Mykhaylo Mudryk, the Blues are willing to spend well over the odds to get their targets.
Since Todd Boehly took over from Roman Abramovich back in May, Chelsea have spent almost £400m on new signings, as detailed by 90min.
The west Londoners are not afraid to throw their wealth around, which poses a potential problem for Arsenal and Newcastle in the race to sign Caicedo.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen between now and transfer deadline day.
