Clint Hill has given his verdict on Michael Beale with the Englishman set to return to Rangers, telling The Scottish Sun that the Ibrox support can expect possession-based, attacking football – also claiming Beale likes the Rangers squad.

Beale, 42, is expected to join Rangers with TalkSPORT reporting that a formal approach is about to be made for the QPR boss. A move to Ibrox would see Beale return to the club he left around a year ago, when joining Aston Villa.

He followed Steven Gerrard to The Midlands in order to work under Gerrard – but in the summer, he moved to QPR. His first job in football management. While Gerrard has been sacked, Beale is impressing – winning nine of 22 games.

It is now expected that Beale will be the man to replaced Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Hill, who is a bit of an icon at Loftus Road while also being well-liked at Ibrox after a brief stint north of the border, gave his verdict on the move.

“Beale must like the Rangers squad and the players who are available to him. I know they have added a couple in, but the core of what he worked with before is still there so he must like to work with them,” Hill told the Sun.

“QPR are very attacking, very possession-based. It suited the players that he had there. Going to Rangers he has to find a way to win. If you win you’ll be successful. If it’s all signed and delivered, it will be a really great opportunity for him.”

What a move it is for Beale. To go from a coach, to a manager and after just 22 games, gets handed the chance to manage a club the size of Rangers. He will be delighted, but the pressure will be on him from minute one of his tenure.

He needs wins. Forget trying to implement a style, that can come later. Beale needs Rangers to get points on the board. Then, improve his team come January, adding little bits of nous here and there. Next summer, he can go properly.
