Antonio Conte wants Tottenham Hotspur to target a transfer for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana after speaking with Fabio Paratici, per 90min, thrilling some fans reacting online.
The new Spurs boss has discussed his options between the sticks with Paratici, and told the club’s Managing Director that he would like to see a new name brought in.
Tottenham added Pierluigi Gollini on an initial season-long loan from Atalanta this summer with a £13m option to buy. But the 26-year-old has so far only made seven appearances in cup competitions and is yet to feature under Conte.
Spurs may also be in the market for a new goalkeeper next year amid doubt in Hugo Lloris’ future. The Frenchman has just seven-months left on his £100k-a-week contract and is yet to hold talks over a new deal.
Conte is establishing a shortlist of goalkeepers Tottenham could target transfers for, and Ajax’s Onana is high in the order. But Spurs could face competition for the 25-year-old.
Like Lloris, Onana is out of contract in June, and Inter Milan are considering him to replace Samir Handanovic. Newcastle United also hold an interest in the Cameroon international.
While Calciomercato report Inter are keen to wrap up a deal for Onana by the end of next month. But Xavi Hernandez may now ask Barcelona to secure his return to the Camp Nou.
Conte has alternative targets in mind should Tottenham miss out on a transfer for Onana in January or when his Ajax contract expires.
