Fabio Paratici thanked Nuno Espirito Santo during his press conference on Wednesday for the job the Portuguese did as Tottenham Hotspur manager before Antonio Conte.
Spurs sacked Nuno on Monday following the north Londoners’ loss to Manchester United on Sunday. The match marked only his 10th Premier League fixture in charge since taking over from Jose Mourinho during the summer.
Tottenham moved fast to hire Conte as Nuno’s replacement on Tuesday, with the Italian joining on an initial 18-month contract. Spurs had awarded Nuno a two-year deal worth £146k-a-week upon his arrival in June, and paid £5m to fire him.

Tottenham sit ninth in the Premier League standings after winning just five of their games under Nuno. They also boast the division’s second-most goal-shy offensive record, with just nine goals scored – only Norwich City (3) have fewer.
Conte will hope to start his tenure in charge of Tottenham with a win at Everton on Sunday. Spurs visit Goodison Park, with the Toffees reeling from their third-straight loss.
Paratici remains grateful for the work Nuno put in during his time with Tottenham, despite how his tenure ultimately ended. Starting his press conference by noting, via Football Daily:
“First of all, I would like to thank Nuno and his staff for the job of this four-months because it’s not an easy decision every time in football when you have to take this decision [to fire someone].
“For one club, it’s not easy. But, okay, football is football, we go ahead and we move forward. This is the first thing. [But I am] really thankful for Nuno and his staff.”
