Chris Wood leads Leeds United’s goalscoring charts by quite some distance, but he insisted that he is not the only one getting into scoring areas.
Leeds United star Chris Wood has suggested to BBC Radio Leeds that his teammates are not over-reliant on him to score the side’s goals and are already getting into the kind of areas that allow them to test the opposition goalkeeper.

The Whites experienced a highly frustrating afternoon on Saturday as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Cardiff City. Leeds had 17 attempts throughout the game but only put three on target, which not only provides an indication about quality of the finishing but also the type of speculative chances they often had to settle for as the Bluebirds defended sternly.

The inability to carve out many noteworthy opportunities has, for some, highlighted how reliant Leeds are on Wood to put the ball in the back of the net – the New Zealander has scored 18 times in the Championship this term, 13 more than any of his teammates – but the striker insisted that the team are doing a lot of the right things going forward.
“They will do, and they do, and sometimes they just don’t get picked out,” he told BBC Radio Leeds when asked whether the midfielders need to offer more support in attack.

“It’s just one of those things where we’re all capable of scoring goals and the whole team knows how to score goals so once people get in those situations, they will take their chances. It’s probably just working on it in training, to open them a bit more to get more clearer chances.”
While Wood has bagged a large majority of Leeds’ goals, it would be unfair to suggest that the rest of Garry Monk’s team do not contribute. In total, 11 different players have scored in the league this year, and there were arguably a few moments during the Cardiff defeat where the build-up play was promising, but the decisions made at the crucial moments often left plenty to be desired.
