Celtic are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper following the retirement of Joe Hart.
Hart hung up his gloves at the age of 37 despite Chris Sutton trying to convince the former Manchester City and England international goalkeeper to continue playing for Celtic.
Celtic are now looking for a replacement goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, and one of the players the Scottish Premiership champions are interested in is Caoimhin Kelleher.
Sources have told HITC that Celtic are keen on signing Kelleher from Liverpool, with Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka also being linked.
Former Celtic striker Sutton has given his verdict on the prospect of the Hoops signing Kelleher.
Chris Sutton sends message to Celtic about Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher
The BBC Sport pundit does not think that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will be able to get a deal done for the 25-year-old Liverpool star.
Sutton wrote in The Daily Record: “A lot of fans would love to see Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher, but I can’t see that one happening, unless it’s on some kind of loan deal.

“Kelleher is highly regarded at Anfield and even if he was allowed to leave, there would be a queue of Premier League clubs ready to throw money at him. Dubravka sounds a more realistic target.”
Celtic have to push the boat out for Caoimhin Kelleher
Kelleher is one of the best No.2 goalkeepers in the Premier League, with Sir Kenny Dalglish rating the Liverpool star highly.
When Alisson was out injured for a while last season, Kelleher stepped up and did so well that no Liverpool fan was missing the Brazil international goalkeeper.
Kelleher is 25 now and has his best years ahead of him. Celtic could have the Republic of Ireland international in his prime and perhaps sell him for a lot of money in three or four years’ time.
As HITC reported last week, Kelleher himself is open to joining Celtic. The problem is that Liverpool want at least £25 million for hi, as per The Athletic.
While Martin Dubravka would be a good signing and would not cost as much as Kelleher, the Newcastle goalkeeper is 35 now. In two years’ time, Celtic would be back searching for a replacement for Dubravka.
While £25 million is a lot of money, for once, Celtic have to push the boat out and make a big signing. They will not regret it.
