Chris Paul is set to resume the final year of his career with a new team, and perhaps another reunion is on the books.

The LA Clippers made one of the most reviled moves in recent memory when they released Chris Paul from the team in the middle of his retirement tour.

The Clippers were panned for disrespecting a franchise legend like Chris Paul. But if Paul wants to end his career with a franchise he’s played for before, he might get his wish.

Houston Rockets looking into landing Chris Paul this season

According to NBA insider Ary on X, Chris Paul could possibly join the Houston Rockets in the final season of his NBA career.

Paul, along with his representatives, is working with Lawrence Frank and the LA Clippers front office to determine how the two sides can part ways, thus allowing the Point God to join a new team.

“A potential Houston Rockets–Chris Paul reunion has emerged as a possibility, The Consensus has learned.

“Paul, his CAA reps, and Clippers officials work collaboratively as they explore options for his next team.”

Chris Paul could be perfect for Houston Rockets

If one ponders the possibility, Chris Paul joining the Houston Rockets makes a lot of sense. The Rockets definitely need depth at the point guard spot.

After the ACL injury suffered by Fred VanVleet, the Rockets have been forced to start second-year point guard Reed Sheppard in the role.

Landing Paul, a veteran point guard who has proven he can still play as a starter as early as last season, could give the Rockets great depth at the spot.

On top of that, Paul can work with Sheppard and help him develop his game, much like he did with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in Oklahoma City.
