According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Juventus have set their sights on a swap-deal involving Denis Zakaria and Mateo Kovacic, who are both at Chelsea.

Of course, the former is currently on loan at Graham Potter’s side until the remainder of the 2022/2023 season, who Liverpool were reportedly interested before landing Arthur Melo, with Arsenal also named as a suitor a year ago.

Now, it seems as if the Serie A heavyweights are open to the Swiss international, who was once likened to Patrick Vieira joining the West Londoners, provided they secure the services of the £40.3 million (Bleacher Report) in exchange.

Juventus keen on Zakaria-Kovacic swap

Calciomercatoweb have reported that Juventus are interested in a player-swap involving Denis Zakaria and Chelsea lynchpin, Mateo Kovacic in the summer.

Furthermore, the Turin-based club are aware that the Blues may be interested in signing the former on a permanent basis, with a £27 million (as relayed by Football Italia) worth option-to-buy in his contract after impressing at Stamford Bridge; as a result, they see this potential transfer as a chance to enhance their existing midfield.

The Guardian had recently claimed that Mateo Kovacic was one of the 6 players Chelsea were looking to offload, which could well mean the club may be open to a swap with Juventus involving Denis Zakaria.

Win-win for both Chelsea and Juve

Ultimately, a player-swap which sees Denis Zakaria join Chelsea in a permanent transfer and Mateo Kovacic head to Juventus sounds like a perfect deal for both clubs.

For starters, Zakaria, before getting injured recently has looked like the Blues’ standout midfielder and perhaps one of the few players who has instantly understood the Potter way.

As for Mateo Kovacic, who has been described as ‘fantastic’ by Thomas Tuchel, via Republic World, there has never been any doubt over his ability.

Keeping that in mind, both Chelsea and Juventus are expected to be all smiles if they sign Zakaria and Kovacic respectively.
