As per a report by the Telegraph, Chelsea could be set to launch a bid for Newcastle United-linked starlet, Malo Gusto before the end of the January transfer window.
The Lyon sensation is rightly regarded as one of the finest young right-backs in not just Europe, but across the world.
While the Mail had only recently reported that Newcastle were keen on signing the £35 million-rated Malo Gusto in January, it seems as if Chelsea are ready to put in a bid for the prodigious defender.
This is bad news for Eddie Howe’s side, who have widely been reported to be looking to bring in an understudy to Kieran Trippier.
However, one can understand why Graham Potter’s men are keen on the Frenchman as well, with Reece James constantly succumbing to injury.
In addition, Cesar Azpilicueta looks way past his best, especially this season and seems no longer fit to even be a backup to James.
Now, it seems Todd Boehly’s Blues are keen on hijacking yet another deal in the January transfer window.
Chelsea set to put in a bid for Newcastle-linked ace, Malo Gusto

The Telegraph have detailed in a new report that Chelsea are planning to put in a bid for Malo Gusto, who has also been linked with a switch to Newcastle United in January.
Despite Lyon being keen to keep the 21-year-old at the club till the summer at least, the West London side aim to put an end to their wish as they consider an understudy to Reece James as a major transfer priority.
Laurence Stewart, who is set to begin his work as one of the club’s technical directors in January is believed to be a Ligue 1 expert, which seems to explain the interest in Gusto.
All in all, Newcastle United may have to put in a bid for Malo Gusto themselves, as it is next to impossible to stop Chelsea from going bid in the transfer market under Todd Boehly.
