It’s all change at Chelsea again following Mauricio Pochettino’s sudden exit.

Since the turn of the century, fans have been used to a change of manager at Stamford Bridge, but usually, it comes with trophy success.

Now, managers, from Graham Potter to the recently departed Pochettino, are heading for the exit door without any silverware and not even a Champions League finish.

Sources recently told HITC that Chelsea are in talks with Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca about the currently vacant Premier League job.

The Italian has previously worked alongside Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, he is a possession-based coach and is coming off a high of helping the Foxes earn promotion back to the Premier League.

But what if the powers that be in West London went in another direction when it comes to bringing in a new coach?

The name of Xavi Hernandez was put on the table – he was recently sacked by Barcelona, even though he was initially leaving, then signed a new deal and has now been booted out.

The legendary midfielder won the La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup with the Catalan giants in his first full season in charge, with Ale Moreno claiming that it would be ‘interesting’ if he took the job at Stamford Bridge, as he told ESPN.

One thing is for sure, Xavi fits the bill of what Chelsea are looking for, but as Moreno touched upon, he would have left one circus to just go and join another.

Xavi Hernandez as Chelsea’s next manager

“If you look at it from that perspective (Xavi being able to do it with young and inexperienced players), I assume that ‘yes, it makes sense’,” told Moreno.

“What I would suggest is that I believe Xavi has gone through a really draining experience and to him I would suggest ‘look, take some time off. Get excited at the prospect of coaching once again. Put this chapter behind you. Gather some of the positive things that came from this experience, build on those things and then put yourself in a situation in which you put yourself as an option out there to the world and see who comes knocking’.

“But, yeah, an opportunity like Chelsea would be interesting. The problem is at Barcelona you had a fickle team president. You are going to Chelsea, it’s a fickle situation. I don’t know if you work from this issue to get into this issue. I believe you need some time off before you gather some energy and jump into something like this.”

Xavi Hernandez in the Premier League

The crazy thing about all of this is don’t rule out Xavi becoming Chelsea manager, one day.

Given the rate at which the Chelsea owners are going through their managers, the next vacancy should probably be available by Christmas.

But, either way, Premier League fans might still get to see Xavi on the Premier League stage, one day. Wherever and for whoever it may be.

Fans didn’t get to see the World Cup winner express his midfield brilliance as a player, but they might get to see him in the dugout.
