Chelsea are going to enter a new era…again!

It has been close to a week since Mauricio Pochettino decided to leave Chelsea after only one season in charge.

There is huge pressure on the Chelsea board. They have had three permanent managers in as many seasons with the club’s future looking uncertain, rather than clear because they keep stopping and starting.

Yes, a lot of money has been spent and they have some really exciting players at their disposal, including Cole Palmer.

But never mind Premier League title winners Manchester City, those at Stamford Bridge seem to be miles behind their London rivals Arsenal. The Gunners finished 26 points above their neighbours.

No one will argue with that, but it also needs to be remembered that Mikel Arteta struggled for at least two years, and a bit more, before he started to show promise at the Emirates.

Perhaps Chelsea should take a leaf out of Arsenal’s book and remain patient with their manager, or else, they will continue to stumble and struggle.

Michael Brown reacted to suggestions that Enzo Maresca could be the next Chelsea manager after guiding Leicester City to the Championship title and promotion to the Premier League, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

Sources have told HITC that Maresca has held talks with the Europa Conference League side after securing the title.

The former midfielder thinks the Italian would ‘walk’ to Stamford Bridge if the job offer is there from Chelsea and the fact that he worked with Pep Guardiola and Arteta could be a reason why he is being considered.

Enzo Maresca to be Chelsea’s next manager?

“But you look at Maresca, the wonderful job he has done,” said Brown. “Obviously, they will be looking at Mikel Arteta, that he has been with Pep Guardiola and getting a switch from Leicester City very, very quickly. Lots of people looking at him to see if they can take him on.

“If Leicester don’t show any ambition, then he will probably want to leave the football club. But if Chelsea come knocking, how can you take that away from somebody like him or Kieran McKenna? You are going to walk there.”

Same old Chelsea

Maresca is a possession-based manager who has worked alongside some of the great minds in the game.

You feel, with these owners, this is the same old Chelsea in the fact that Maresca will probably act like a puppet to them.

There is a reason why the powers that be aren’t going for an experienced manager because they know they are going to be difficult to deal with.

Chelsea finished sixth this season and you have to question, if the next manager doesn’t get them into the Champions League, then surely that manager doesn’t last because Pochettino didn’t.
