HITC understands that Chelsea are ready to reward Cole Palmer with a bumper new contract.

The 22-year-old joined Chelsea last summer from Manchester City in a deal worth just over £40million and he signed a seven-year contract.

He is currently at Euro 2024 where England reached the semi-finals after beating Switzerland in a nerve-racking penalty shootout on Saturday.

Chelsea fans might be screaming and shouting for Cole Palmer to start games, but once again, that didn’t happen with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka preferred out wide.

But the Chelsea fan favourite did come off the bench, including to take and score England’s opening penalty like he has been doing at Stamford Bridge all season long.

It just goes to show the strength in depth England have when they can afford to leave a player of Palmer’s skill and quality on the bench for so long.

Pay rise for Cole Palmer

Palmer was outstanding for the Blues in his debut campaign. He scored 22 Premier League goals and supplied 11 assists for a team that was inconsistent for most parts and finished sixth.

He is emerging as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous forwards.

Chelsea recognises Palmer’s stock has risen massively, and because of that, they have made him and his representatives aware that they are ready to offer him a significant pay rise, HITC understands.

Cole Palmer under Enzo Maresca

Mauricio Pochettino was in charge when Palmer was brought to the club, but within a year, he is out of the door and that’s something he has to get used to.

Enzo Maresca is the man now tasked with getting Palmer to hit even higher heights because he has reached unbelievable levels so far.

Chelsea will be in Europe again after missing out last time out, so they have midweek games to contend with, but it will be the Conference League for the London club rather than the Europa League.

Manchester United’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City meant that Chelsea were demoted down one European place.
