Chelsea are ready to make a move for Newcastle United January transfer target Lucas Digne, according to 90min.

The report has claimed that Everton want to sell Lucas Digne in the January transfer window.

Chelsea are one of the clubs interested in the France international left-back and are now reportedly ready to make a move for the Everton player.

The defending European champions are looking for cover for Ben Chilwell, who is now out of action for the long term.

Chelsea over Newcastle United for Lucas Digne?

In our opinion, Chelsea reportedly ready to make a bid for Lucas Digne is bad news for Newcastle.

ESPN reported last week that Newcastle want to sign Digne in the January transfer window and are ready to pay the £25 million fee that Everton want.

However, between Chelsea and Newcastle, it is very likely that Digne will choose the Blues.

After all, Chelsea are aiming to win the Premier League title and the Champions League this campaign, while Newcastle could end up in the Championship at the end of the season.

We do not think that if Chelsea, who won the Champions League last season, make an offer for Lucas Digne, then Newcastle will be able to compete with that.

Also remember, Chelsea are a rich club who can easily match Newcastle’s potential salary offer to Digne.
