Levi Colwill could leave Chelsea as the Blues look to bring in new defenders this summer, with Arsenal and Nottingham Forest in the mix.

Chelsea have been taken over by Todd Boehly and now look set to make a real impact in the transfer market.

Leeds winger Raphinha is a top target for Chelsea whilst the likes of Nathan Ake and Jules Kounde continue to be linked.

Chelsea need defenders this summer but there are now fears that Colwill may look to leave the club if that happens.

Levi Colwill could leave Chelsea

Colwill, 19, has come up through the ranks at Chelsea and showed his immense quality as a left-sided centre back on loan at Huddersfield Town last season.

Left-footed defenders are in demand in the modern game and Colwill is no different.

The Mirror report that defender Colwill is prepared to seek a Chelsea exit if he cannot be given assurances about his playing time.

Whilst Reece James and Mason Mount have become stars at Chelsea, this is often the dilemma that faces Blues youngsters.

Chasing first-team football at Chelsea isn’t easy and some have to leave in order to play regularly.

Look at Tammy Abraham joining Roma last summer. Colwill’s fellow defenders Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi ended up leaving Chelsea permanently to become stars last summer.

Colwill may soon be faced with the same quandary if Chelsea do go and sign Kounde and Ake this summer.

Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are moving on but Thomas Tuchel would still have Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr.

Two new signings would make Colwill’s task harder, and he would have no shortage of suitors.

Fabrizio Romano claimed earlier this week that Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace all want Colwill permanently.

The Mirror’s report claims that Southampton are keen too but Everton have now backed away from a move.

It’s also worth noting that Goal claimed in May that Arsenal had launched a bold enquiry to try and sign Colwill from Chelsea.

Chelsea may not want to sell to a London rival but Arsenal want a left-sided defender and they like Colwill.

All of those interested clubs will be keeping close tabs on Colwill’s situation amid these new claims that he could look to leave Stamford Bridge.
