Chelsea have completed the signing of Caleb Wiley and HITC understands he is now set to complete a loan move.

The Blues announced on their club website on Monday afternoon that 19-year-old Caleb Wiley has signed from MLS side Atlanta United.

Wiley signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge with an option to extend his stay for a further year.

The highly-rated left-back becomes Chelsea‘s sixth arrival of the summer after completing deals for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga and Tosin Adarabioyo.

However, Chelsea sources confirmed to HITC that Wiley is set to be loaned to Strasbourg next season.

The French outfit is a sister club to Chelsea after their owners – BlueCo – agreed to purchase Strasbourg last summer.

Caleb Wiley will play under Liam Rosenior next season

Chelsea view Wiley as a long-term prospect and believe a season on loan at France is best for his development.

The Blues are taking advantage of their multi-club model to gather more experience for Wiley and keep track of his progress.

Wiley will play under Liam Rosenior at Strasbourg. HITC understands that the former Hull City boss is set to be confirmed as the Ligue 1 club’s new manager after talks with BlueCo.

Chelsea have already made use of their links to Strasbourg to develop their young and exciting squad.

Both Angelo Gabriel and Andrey Santos joined Strasbourg on loan last season and have now returned to senior training with Chelsea this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Santos will return to the French club on loan after attending Chelsea’s US pre-season tour this summer.
