Ajax star Hakim Ziyech impressed last season, sparking Everton’s interest.

Everton ended up signing Alex Iwobi over the summer, landing the Nigerian to play either out wide or as a number 10 to give Marco Silva more impetus going forward.
It now seems that Marcel Brands had another target in mind, and we’re not talking about Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha either.
Chelsea advisor Piet de Visser has been discussing Ajax given that the two sides met on Wednesday, and he mentioned Everton in connection with Hakim Ziyech.
De Visser suggested to De Volkskrant that Ajax made a great move by keeping Ziyech, and questioned just why the playmaker would want to sign for Everton for around €4million (£3.5million) a year, which is around £67,000-a-week.
There hadn’t been much mention of that offer over the summer, but the suggestion is certainly an interesting one given how Ziyech impressed for Ajax last season – and given that Everton fans really wanted him to join the Toffees this past summer.
The Moroccan star hit 21 goals and 24 assists last season in a superb campaign for Ajax, showing creativity and an eye for goal, with his long passing and set piece ability particularly catching the eye.

Ziyech could have replaced Gylfi Sigurdsson as Everton’s number 10, but he also thrived cutting in from the right flank last season, which could have been his role at Everton.
With Sigurdsson struggling to hit top form this season, Everton should keep an eye on the 26-year-old ahead of a future move – even if it would cost a huge amount to lure him over from Amsterdam.
