‘Change’: MOTD pundit makes U-turn over ‘first-class’ Arsenal midfielder

Martin Keown has said on Match of the Day on BBC One (10:46pm, December 18, 2021) that he has changed his opinion on Arsenal attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard following his performance against Leeds United at Elland Road.

Keown has said that he was not sure about Odegaard when he first played for Arsenal.

However, the Arsenal legend and MOTD pundit has now changed his opinion about the attacking midfielder.

The 23-year-old provided an assist, as Arsenal won 4-1 against Leeds United away from home at Elland Road in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Keown said about Odegaard on MOTD: “I will say that when he first came to the club, I was not his biggest of fans, but I have to change that opinion now because he really is developing. Clever movement that he has to receive the ball, first-class in that Arsenal midfield.”

Developing

Odegaard has started to do extremely well for Arsenal on a regular basis.

The former Real Madrid player is now affecting games and is showing what he is capable of.

Odegaard is also contributing with goals and assists.

The youngster has scored four goals and provided one assist in 12 Premier League starts for Mikel Arteta’s so far this season.

Odegaard scored one goal and gave two assists in nine Premier League starts during his loan spell at Arsenal during the second half of last season.

Arsenal manager Arteta is clearly having a positive effect on Odegaard and is bringing out his best.
