Leeds United manager news continues to be a hot topic as Andrea Radrizzani struggles to find a replacement for Jesse Marsch.
The Italian was seemingly close to hiring Alfred Schreuder as fans spotted the Dutchman at Elland Road, although that decision was publicly criticised enough for the 48-year-old to backtrack.
According to the Daily Mail, Leeds are considering an interim option to replace Marsch until the summer, when better candidates become available – in that respect, Huddersfield may have just beaten them to an ideal appointment given the circumstances.
What’s the story?
Well, hear us out before making any judgements.
The Terriers have just appointed Neil Warnock on a six-month contract, with the experienced Yorkshireman taking his 19th job in management, his first since leaving Middlesbrough in 2021.
In our view, he would have been a suitable choice for Leeds in the current managerial climate.
Warnock is a vastly experienced figure, having racked up 400 career wins throughout his career – 23 of those came at Elland Road as he spent the 2012/13 campaign at Elland Road.
Time is of the essence for Leeds as they find themselves 17th in the Premier League – one point above the relegation zone – so it would have made sense to hire someone who is familiar with the club, one who wouldn’t waste any time settling in.
The 74-year-old knows Leeds well, and is a capable pair of hands.
Warnock’s tremendous experience in football, and ability to galvanise a group, would have given Radrizzani and Orta some breathing room as they consider long-term options to pursue in the summer.
Nevertheless, it was Huddersfield who decided to make a move for Warnock, which leaves Leeds in a difficult position after failing to hire the likes of Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot.
Leeds United manager news
Some Leeds fans may celebrate the fact Radrizzani performed a U-turn on Schreuder, but it is very concerning that he was being considered in the first place after his disastrous spell at Ajax this season.

That shouldn’t fill Leeds supporters with much hope, and the approach to replacing Marsch really does feel like a chaotic, scattergun process.
Be sure to keep an eye on the bizarre situation, as Leeds will surely make a decision soon.
