Tottenham might have just made an approach to bring Davide Frattesi to the Premier League from Sassuolo.

What’s the story?

Well, it was Sassuolo News who claimed that Antonio Conte would like the Italy international to join Spurs.

Now, Giovanni Carnevali – Chief Executive Officer of the Serie A side – has announced that Premier League sides have made contact with him over a deal for Frattesi.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 62-year-old said: “We’ve been approached by Premier League clubs for Davide Frattesi. There are requests for him.”

Calciomercato believe it will take a sum of £30m to lure the 23-year-old away from Italy.

Interest in Frattesi comes after he scored four goals in his first 15 Serie A appearances this season, while also becoming a regular in the Italian national team under Roberto Mancini.

Of course, Carnevali does not mention which Premier League clubs have been in touch.

However, amid strong rumours that Tottenham are interested in the midfield maestro, there is a good chance Spurs were among the English sides who spoke to the Sassuolo CEO.

Tottenham seemingly have alternative to Frattesi

Interestingly, Carnevali’s comments come just hours after talk of Tottenham submitting a £13m bid to Barcelona for Franck Kessie, who also plays in the centre of midfield.

That was according to Alfredo Martínez – a journalist for Onda Cero – who told Radioestadio Noche: “There is an offer from Tottenham for Kessie of just over €15m (£13m).”

In our view, it seems unlikely that Conte will sign two new centre-midfield options, seeing as the Italian still tends to leave his £25m summer signing Yves Bissouma out of the starting XI most weeks.

Therefore, Frattesi is potentially being eyed as a backup option, should a move for Kessie fall through.

Be sure to keep an eye on Tottenham, as we expect them to make at least one new signing in January.
