Ardon Jashari has opened up about his future with the £4.5 million Celtic target admitting that a move away from the Swiss Super League will bring about an all-new set of challenges.

If this was to be the Switzerland international’s final appearance for FC Luzern – a 1-0 defeat at home to Servette on Monday – then home supporters were obviously keen to ensure that Ardon Jashari left with a smile on his face.

The captain’s name rang around an emotional Swissporarena; the adoration between player and supporters as clear as a spring dawn under the Alps.

Jashari rose through the ranks at Luzern before inheriting the captain’s armband at the age of just 20. A talismanic presence both on and off the pitch, the twice-capped enforcer will certainly be missed, reports suggesting that Celtic face competition from RB Leipzig, Atalanta and Portuguese giants Porto for his £4.5 million-rated signature (Blick).

Will Ardon Jashari end up at Celtic?

Jashari, speaking following the final day of the Swiss Super League campaign, insists that no decision has been made just yet. The former Arsenal target is also fully aware that, after building up such a lofty reputation at Luzern, Jashari will be starting again from the ground up in his new home.

“Right now, I’m (wearing) blue and white. Now, the holidays are coming. After that, I’ll be going to the Euros with the U21s. We’ll see what comes after that,” Jashari tells Blick

“The step abroad is not so easy. (But) if the project is right, the league is not relevant.”

Likened to Jude Bellingham by some due to a maturity which belies his age; Jashari is a left-footed, all-action central midfielder who – if Celtic is to be his destination – could provide valuable support for overworked skipper Callum McGregor in the ‘number six’ role.

“Jashari has a personality that qualifies him as a leader. You rarely see that at this age,” Swiss talent scout Olivier Zesiger tells Luzerner Zeitung.

“Physically, (Swiss team-mate) Granit Xhaka is stronger. (But) both players can move the ball in progression. In addition, the two are good at reading a game and winning the ball back.

“If things continue, then he’ll definitely end up at a club in one of the top five leagues (in Europe).”
