West Ham United are reportedly interested in Burnley winger Scott Arfield this month as his contract enters its final six months, but would the Scotland-born ace not thrive at Celtic?

The Independent claim the 29-year-old is interesting David Moyes ahead of a possible January move, with the Hammers willing to pay £2million to land the versatile midfielder.

It is believed that there is a contract offer on the table from Burnley to extend his current deal, but West Ham are willing to go above and beyond to lure the Canada international to the London Stadium.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers arrives at the stadium prior to the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

At just £2million, Arfield is more than affordable for a Celtic side that are likely to be in a healthy financial position following the participation in the Champions League and qualification for the Europa League knockout stages.

The Sunday Post claimed that 25-year-old Stuart Armstrong is a £10million target for Premier League side Southampton, and if the Scotland international departs then landing a player such as Arfield will be considered crucial.

That need for former Huddersfield and Falkirk star Arfield is even more when you consider Australia international Tom Rogic, Man City loanee Patrick Roberts and summer signing Jonny Hayes are all sidelined through injury.

Ross McCrorie of Rangers vies with Stuart Armstrong of Celtic during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

A player that can thrive in a number of positions, Arfield would be a huge coup for Celtic as he continues to prove an important asset in Sean Dyche’s Burnley side.

His two goals this season have earned Burnley four points, scoring against Liverpool at Anfield to earn a 1-1 draw before finding the back of the net against Watford in the only goal of the game.

An eye for goal, ability to create and unlock a defence and cover in a number of positions, Arfield at just £2million is a bargain and would be a fantastic signing even if Celtic do not sell Armstrong in January.
