Celtic want Oliver Abildgaard and Ange Postecoglou has told fans to expect both ins and outs ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.
The Bhoys have enjoyed another very positive transfer window under Ange Postecoglou.
Lats summer it was the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada and Carl Starfelt arriving.
January saw Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda arrive, whilst Celtic have then tied up permanent deals for loanees Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota.
Add in new faces like Benjamin Siegrist, Moritz Jenz, Alexandro Bernabei, Aaron Mooy and Sead Haksabanovic and this has been great window – and there could soon be even more.
Celtic want Oliver Abildgaard
Celtic could remarkably raid Rubin Kazan once again.
The Bhoys snapped up Starfelt from the Russian side last summer and then raided Rubin again in recent days to sign Haksabanovic.
Two could become three now with Celtic also chasing the signing of midfielder Abildgaard.
Fabrizio Romano reports that a deal is ‘in place’ for Abildgaard to join Celtic and the contracts are waiting to be signed.
The Scottish Sun add that Abildgaard has passed a medical in London and his Celtic move is imminent.
Abildgaard, 26, became a star in his native Denmark with Aalborg before heading to Russia with Rubin Kazan in 2020.
A gigantic defensive midfielder at 6ft 4in tall, Abildgaard feels like a replacement for Nir Bitton in terms of adding a tall enforcer in the middle of the park.
Abildgaard has even filled in at centre back at times, just like Bitton did before leaving Celtic this summer.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was asked about a possible deal for Abildgaard last night, but remained coy on specific names even whilst telling fans to expect both ins and outs today.
“They can expect some transfers and ins and outs. We will see what happens over the next 24 hours,” Postecoglou told The Herald.
“It’s definitely a name. There has been a lot of names. Obviously, there are still 24 hours to go and some outgoings we are still working on as well. We will see how things fall over the next 24 hours,” he added.
Abildgaard looks like an exciting addition to the Celtic midfield ranks and rejoining forces with Starfelt and Haksabanovic makes this move even more sensible, giving him a couple of familiar faces whilst he settles in at Parkhead.
